Development Manager BC

Job Title: Development Manager
Reports To: Senior Director, Development
Department: West Portfolio

Position Summary

Oversee and manage all aspects of site and project specific development, responsible for a number of projects and asset types within the West Portfolio. In coordination with the Portfolio Leader, identify new development initiatives within the Portfolio and/or through acquisition, in accordance with Trust’s current and future targets.

Responsibilities:

• Identifying and advancing development opportunities in accordance with the Trust’s project plan approval procedures.
• Executing approved project plans through the coordination of, and teaming with, outside consultants, Development team members and other internal departments.
• Managing all aspects of development approvals including the obtaining of official plan amendments, zoning bylaw amendments, minor variances, site plan approvals, building permit approvals, and all other governmental approvals required to execute against plan.
• Assisting in managing relationship with JV partners and clients through direct interaction.
• Assisting with site acquisition, either through directing an acquisitions specialist, an outside broker, or through direct contact with prospective vendors.
• Administrative functions including periodic project status updates in accordance with the Trust’s project plan approval procedures, project update meetings, and project plan revisions or updates to Sr. Management and/or JV Partners.

Academic/Professional Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Land Economics, or related field, and or Professional Designation.
• Additional professional designation and/or certification would be an asset.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Minimum five years of experience in a land development capacity and other components of real estate development.
• Experience in commercial, industrial, residential, and/or mixed-use land development is preferred.
• Proven track record of obtaining land use entitlements.
• Managerial experience preferable, specifically in directing a Development Coordinator.
• Managing a professional consultant team, stakeholders, and government department relationships.
• Must own personal vehicle and have a valid driver’s license as some travel will be required.

The expected base pay range is: $97,500 – $120,000. The base pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.
